Good News Stories from WCS
Manon Mitchell

Our WCS committee approved a investment of USD5,000 in a project run by the Rotary Club of Edmonton Riverview. Like many projects our club sponsors, it was a personal connection that brought this project to our attention. This project saw a team of Edmonton cataract surgeons travel to Ecuador. Guess how many surgeries they completed in a week?
This email was received from Rotarian Paul Dussault from the RC Edmonton Riverview.

"With mixed emotions, the team has completed the second annual “Misión Claridad”. After much anticipation and planning, this year’s mission is now behind us.  The team worked very long hours, we had some staffing challenges (a couple covid cases) but we are very pleased with what was accomplished. The cataract surgery team performed 80 surgeries, with additional complex cases done on our behalf the following week. The Optometry team saw 350 people, identifying 200 people needing glasses to aid them for daily activities. The optometry team will be preparing glasses for those individuals, those glasses will be delivered in January next year.

On behalf of the team, the two partnering Rotary Clubs (RC Edmonton Riverview and RC Tomebamba Ecuador) and all the people who benefited from this mission, I’d like to thank RC Calgary for making this mission possible. I look forward to attending one of your club’s meetings (virtually) in the coming months to speak about our work in Ecuador."

Sincerely,

Paul Dusseault
